FIFA’s development officials Zelklifi Ngoufonja and Ashford Mamelodi are expected to tour the Zimbabwe Football Association Village in Harare this afternoon.
Ngoufonja is the Fifa African senior development manager while his companion Mamelodi is the East and Southern Africa development manager. Zifa chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze said Ngoufonja and Mamelodi who are already in the country, were on a routine tour to check on progress at each member association.
“I can confirm that the two officials are already in the country and will be touring the Zifa Village tomorrow afternoon as part of their routine checks,” he said.
Mashingaidze said Zifa had been working on the Mount Hampden Goal Project development which the touring delegation wants to evaluate.
“They’ll be assessing some of the projects we’ve been working on and the level of development of football in the country,” he said.
Mashingaidze said they would also discuss some of the challenges that Zifa and the country’s football are facing.
“Some of the issues that’ll be discussed are the challenges that the country and Zifa are facing in the development of the world’s most beautiful sport and how best to solve them,” he said.
Zifa have been hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons with part of their movable properties attached for debts accumulated in recent years.
