BUSINESSMAN and philanthropist Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy “Lulu” Muteke, were yesterday laid to rest at Sahwira Glen Forest Memorial Park in Harare, bringing to an end a funeral that captivated Zimbabwe and the region for more than a week.
The final journey of the high-profile couple drew scores of mourners to the memorial park, where family, friends and admirers gathered to bid them farewell.
The funeral brought together a cross-section of Zimbabwean society, with Government officials, business leaders, politicians, church leaders, musicians, sports personalities and ordinary citizens joining the grieving families.
The couple’s high-profile send-off reflected Chivayo’s prominence in Zimbabwe’s business, philanthropic and sporting circles, with tributes pouring in from across the country and the region following their deaths.
