THE final entries for the Zimbabwe Derby Grade three race, the third leg of the Triple Crown set for Borrowdale race course on Sunday April 19 has been released. This race will be over 2,400M, a stayers distance. The local horse racing authority, Mashonaland Turf Club (Mashturfclub) has cast the die by releasing a lean list of eight thoroughbred runners that will battle it out for the final leg of the race.
Winner of this year’s edition are set to walk away $4,320 richer.
The second, third and fourth placed runners to go over the line will collect $ 1,440, $900 and $540 respectively. This race has been slotted in as race six.
From the previously submitted nominees list filed last week, Argodaba, All The Bids, Latin Queen, Primadora, Rock Prince have been dropped reducing the cast to just eight runners.
Horses that have made their way into the final field list are Merhaba, Mica Point, River Waltz, Spanish Matador, Lincoln Can, Holderstebolder, Tallie Two and Second Light.
From the list only Merhaba, Mica Point and Tallie Two are the survivors from the two previous legs held in February and May this year.
The rest of the pack will be participating for the first time hence will be out to make an impact and move up the rankings ladder.
A total of five trainers will be represented during this leg.
