A Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) fourth-year student, was yesterday afternoon hit to death by a haulage truck that veered off the road near the campus main entrance.

The student and her friend from the same institution were walking from the learning facility when tragedy struck along Harare-Chirundu Highway.

Efforts to get comments from provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Margaret Chitove and CUT’s acting director of communications and public relations, Mr Gifford Chikuya were futile last night.

Some witnesses however, said the late had managed to save her friend from the truck but failed to escape the truck which smashed her by trailor wheels killing her instantly.

Her body was taken to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

Some of students who were present including the friend were also taken to the same hospital for counselling.
