FORMER Harare City midfielder Learnmore Muyambo has re-joined the club after a short stint in the South African Premiership football.
Muyambo, who turns 25 tomorrow, joined Marumo Gallants last year in July.
But the player, who was now a free agent, re-joined the Sunshine Boys to revive his career and is expected to help the council side in their bid to survive relegation from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
Taurai Mangwiro’s troops host Ngezi Platinum at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon hoping to maintain last week’s performance which saw them bouncing back to winning ways after seven matches.
Last week Harare City picked up maximum points on the road against Black Rhinos at Vengere.
They need to win their remaining games and hope Tenax and ZPC Kariba falter in some of their games.
Harare City are third from the bottom with 27 points from 29 games while Tenax are one place above them with 28 points. ZPC Kariba are fifth from the bottom with 29 points.
“It’s an important game for us. It is the home stretch now. We badly need to get out of the mud now. We cannot afford to drop points.
“We are facing a resurgent team and we respect them but that’s as far as it ends. We welcome back to the fold Learnmore (Muyambo) who is back from South Africa and re-joined us as a free agent,” said Mangwiro.
This week the team will miss the duo of Tellmore Pio and Blessing Bizeki who are injured.
But it is not going to be easy for the Sunshine Boys as they welcome Takesure Chiragwi’s charges that have hit a purple patch in the league.
The Mhondoro side are enjoying their game. Last week they condemned troubled ZPC Kariba to a 3-0 defeat at Baobab.
“We are on a roll as a team given we have won the last four games. I am loving every minute of it and hats off to my players who have gathered enough confidence going into every match,” said Chiragwi.
However, the youthful coach reckons that Harare City are fighting for their survival and are tricky customers.
“The match against Harare City is a different ball game.
“They are a team which is fighting for survival, they are a team with some good players as well.
“We are not going to put ourselves under pressure. We are not saying we should finish in the top four but just a strong finish will do.
“We have been emphasising the issue of teamwork and it’s coming out perfectly. Everyone is putting in the work and the vibe is very positive.
”We need to focus on the match against Harare City. They are a team fighting for their survival, they are very tricky if you ask me. But as Ngezi Platinum Stars, we are always ready to go. Let’s see what happens but we are looking at getting a positive result,” said Chiragwi.
