Fire cracker victim pleads for support

Herald Reporter

The teenage boy seriously injured in an explosion in Chitungwiza in January when he connected a firecracker to a solar panel and used his tongue to test current flow needs financial support.

Mrs Rudo Munhungaupi, the mother of Godfrey Munhungaupi (13), said she can no longer go out to look for part time jobs to feed the family since she is unemployed and spends most of the time taking care of the boy.

“Godfrey is in a critical situation. He only survives on liquid food such as milk which he takes via tubes, but now I cannot afford to buy the milk since I am taking care of him and I cannot leave him alone because of his situation.

“In addition, the wounds need to be cleaned every day and I have no money to buy the required medicines,” said Ms Munhungaupi.

The Department of Social Welfare recently rescued the boy by paying for second operation at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital to construct his chin.

Godfrey is waiting to undergo the major operation at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospital with the help of the Department of Social Welfare.

Well-wishers can contact Ms Munhungaupi on 0776878380.
