Fire guts Harare Children’s Home

Mathew Masinge

Two blocks at Harare Children’s Home caught fire on Thursday leaving at least 40 children desperate for food, clothes and shelter.

The cause of the fire at the orphanage is yet to be determined.

The orphanage’s home matron, Mrs Sithole, has appealed for help.

“Thankfully there has been no loss of life but these dormitories will need to be rebuilt as soon as possible.

“We have lost everything you would need in a family home.

“Furniture, blankets, sheets, clothes for babies up to 18 years, school shoes, uniforms, toys etc.

“Please open your hearts to the plight of these children” she said.
