FIREWORKS are expected at Mucheke in Masvingo on Saturday when in-form Mucheke Pirates lock horns with FC Mutoko in a ZIFA Eastern Region Division One match. Eastern Region administrator Thadeous Machawira said football fans should expect a thriller in this contest. The two sides are separated by a point, with Mucheke Pirates on 30 points while FC Mutoko are a point behind.

Mutare City, bidding for a return to the Premiership, lead the race with 36 points with the clubs from the eastern border city dominating the marathon.

Buffaloes, another former Premiership side, are in second place and waiting to pounce. Tenax, who played a decisive role last season when they held Buffaloes in their final match and opened a window for Yadah Stars to win promotion, are in third place.

Both sides have 34 points.

Buffaloes lead Tenax on goal difference.

“The ZIFA Eastern Region administration has lined up eight matches this weekend. All is set for the matches, which we believe would be played in a fair manner,” Machawira said.
