Speaking at the occasion, Manicaland Provincial Education Director, Mr Richard Gabaza encouraged the learners to seize all opportunities that come their way with both hands.

“No venture, no gain. It is not a mistake to make a mistake, but it is mistake to repeat a mistake. The world beyond these walls is filled with opportunities, and I encourage you to seize them with both hands. Be bold, be curious and remain committed to your dreams.

“As we celebrate achievements in diverse areas, be it academics, sports, arts and community service, let us acknowledge the importance of compassion and community development. It is not your achievements that matters, but how you uplift those around you. Leadership is not confined to the positions of power, it resides in every act of kindness and effort to develop others. As you celebrate your achievements, you need to develop those around you,” said Mr Gabaza.

Speaking at the same occasion, First Class Group of School Director General, Mr Stephen Mutsongodza said: “I want to appreciate these boys and girls for performing well. You will be absorbed by institutions of higher learning local and abroad, so go be good ambassadors of your families, First Class Academy and the country at large. To the current learners, you should also take a leaf from your brothers and sisters we are honouring today.

“To the parents and guardians, I say go thee out there and continue multiplying because we want more learners at First Class Academy. This starter pack is aimed at preparing our excelling learners to start their journey on institutions of higher learning on a sound footing,” said Mr Mutsongodza.

First Class Group of Schools also took the opportunity to honour their founding administrators, among them the late Mr Stephen Chiwara, Mr Mutasa and Mrs Chikuruwo.

Mr Chiwara passed on early this year, having served First Class Academy for more than a decade.

The founding administrators were honoured with the provision of solar power at their respective homes, while those who had invested in the green energy equipment were given money equivalent to the purchase and installation of the solar kits.
