Five-A-Side soccer vacuum ended

Online Reporter
BULAWAYO-based Philani Banda was on Saturday confirmed as the legitimate head of the Zimbabwe Five-A-Side Football Association (Futsal), ending weeks of anxiety.
For the last six months, there has been a leadership vacuum with former president Givemore Chidakwa claiming control while regions have stood by his former deputy Banda.
Regional members representing North and South passed a vote of no confidence on Chidakwa during a meeting in Harare on Saturday.
Chidakwa has not been visible in the sport since the COVID days, but Banda has carried the load and kept the association going, with a number of activities running regularly.
Banda said the road ahead will not be an easy one but commended those who have hung around the sport and said with a unity of purpose there will be a turnaround that will see the sport at junior level and women active too.
