adminZimbabwe Council For Higher Education has suspended the university’s five programmes.
At least 1 520 students are expected to graduate at a ceremony to be officiated by the Chancellor President Mugabe.
The university’s Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Gabriel Kabanda issued a statement yesterday to counter speculation that circulated in the country following a notice that some degree programmes had been suspended.
The Council for Higher Education suspended the Master of Science in Counseling, Bachelor of Science in Counseling, Diploma in Education (Primary), Graduate certificate or diploma in Education and Diploma in Early Childhood Development with immediate effect.
The suspension, according to a notice by the council, will only be lifted after corrective measures have been effected.
The suspension was part of council’s on-going process of monitoring degree offering institutions and degree programmes. Prof Kabanda assured the nation that the suspension was only temporary and that ZOU was working on rectifying the problems.
Prof Kabanga said the graduation ceremony was still on and the suspension would not affect it.
“ZOU graduation is on this Friday and all graduands should finalise their preparations with their regional centres. Rehearsals for graduation will be held tomorrow (today) at the graduation venue starting at 2pm,” said Prof Kabanga.
