Flying of flag at half-mast ends today

Patel ends today.

In a statement yesterday, Media, Information and Publicity Minister Webster Shamu said: “The Government wishes to advise members of the public that the period of national mourning for the late Cde Patel during which the national flag flies at half mast is until the end of the day tomorrow (today).”

Cde Patel (83) died last Saturday in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he had been receiving treatment.
His body was cremated at Pioneer Cemetery on Wednesday while some of the remains would be interred at the National Heroes Acre in August next year during National Heroes’ Day commemorations.
