ZIMBABWEAN professional golfer Benjamin Follet-Smith finished as the best-placed local at the Sunshine Tour’s KCB Karen Masters at Karen Country Club in Nairobi, Kenya, at the weekend.
Follet-Smith was tied on position 12th after the four rounds as he had rounds of 70, 72, 67 and 71.
Three Zimbabweans made the cut with Mark Williams and Ryan Cairns among the group. Williams finished at two under and tied on position 29th while Cairns was on level par after the four rounds. Follet-Smith was tied with Briton Luke Joyans and South African Jaco Prinsloo as they pocketed R29 000 each.
The tournament was won by South Africa’s Michael Palmer who capped one of the most dramatic turnarounds as he won by two strokes for his maiden Sunshine Tour title.
Palmer closed with a five-under-par 67 to beat off the challenge of Merrick Bremner. Pieter Moolman and Tyrone Ryan shared third place a further shot back. The tournament represented the first time Palmer had made the cut in seven attempts in the 2018-19 season.
The event saw Cairns coming up with an awesome hole-in-one.
The Royal Harare Club member won a Toyota Prado for his efforts.
