Food cheer for orphans

LOCAL Muslim humanitarian organisation Dar al Salaam and Muslimehelfen of Germany, have embarked on nationwide food distribution to orphans through their Orphans Food Nutrition Support Scheme.

This is part of their relief response programme to assist disadvantaged communities at a time most underprivileged people are in need of food assistance.

Under the scheme, targeted orphans are is receiving a hamper containing a 10kg bag of mealie meal, 4kg sugar, 5kg dry beans and 2kg of soya chunks every month.

The food is being distributed to the orphans irrespective of religious beliefs.

Dar al Salaam head of administration, Mr Edison Saidi said because of the Covid-19 pandemic, 2020 had been a difficult time for vulnerable people, hence the move to avail foodstuffs to orphans.
