A former administrator with Shava Food Enterprises appeared in court yesterday on allegations of converting to his own use $4 949,60 he received for use at company functions.

Kudakwashe Gerald Gomba (30) was charged with theft of trust property when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.

He was remanded out of custody to May 8.

It is alleged that from the period of March 1 to May 23, 2018 Gomba transferred $1 473, 60 into his EcoCash account on the pretext that he was going to buy food for the company but instead converted it to his own use.

During the same period Gomba was given $3 474,90 in cash by Ruth Chapereka, the operations director, to spend on company functions. Gomba failed to do the acquittals and did not satisfactorily account for the money advanced to him.

Nothing was recovered
