THE dreams of more than 2500 tertiary students have come true after Ambassador Uebert Angel paid their tuition fees in the past two weeks.
This brings the number of students who are on the OPEAAL Mnangagwa Scholarship Scheme to just over 5100 since its inception. The OPEAAL Mnangagwa Scholarship, which Ambassador Angel sponsors from his own resources without recourse to public or government funds, was founded in honour of President Mnangagwa.
“It is built on the recommendations of President Mnangagwa’s principle to assist all Zimbabweans regardless of their political affiliations,” a spokesperson said.
“This year most beneficiaries were from polytechnics, as they were being overlooked for some time. The initiative is aiming at paying tuition for 10 000 universities and college students.”

While most scholarships target students based on their outstanding academic qualities, the OPEAAL Mnangagwa Scholarship targets those bright but vulnerable students who are unlikely to pursue their studies because of financial challenges.
Many of the recipients have expressed their gratitude for the golden chance they have been given. A number of Vice Chancellors and Polytechnic Principals have also hailed the latest lifeline handed to the students.
