SAKHILE Dube says she can’t wait to be back home after her participation at the Miss Universe beauty pageant where she finished in the top 30 in Mexico City at the weekend.
The lanky model, and her supporting cast, are expected to touch down at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport today.
She is set to arrive at about 6pm.
“I can’t wait to be home, meet my friends, family and fans. I am happy I represented my country at the Miss Universe pageant.
“I made friends and for now I can’t wait to be home.”
Sakhile is not new to international beauty pageants as last year she participated at the Miss Supranational Africa pageant.
She won Supra Top Model in Poland.
“My heart is full and thank you Zimbabwe,” she said.
Sakhile is expected to meet with some of her fans on arrival.
It has been a tough period for her as she spent two weeks in the boot camp preparing for her showdown with some of the world’s most beautiful women.
Miss Universe Zimbabwe national director, Tendai Hunda, has called the nation to come in their numbers to welcome Sakhile.
“Let us come in our numbers to welcome our beauty queen Sakhile, she made us proud and I would like to thank Team Zimbabwe, who include everyone who was rallying behind Sakhile,” she said.
“I urge everyone to continue supporting her as this also boosts the industry.
“I’m calling all modelling fanatics, stakeholders and related organisations to come and welcome Sakhile at the airport.”
Hunda said Sakhile’s journey has just started.
Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark was crowned Miss Universe 2024.
A day after being crowned, she flew to Miami on a private jet with Miss Universe organisers for more interviews, photoshoots and she was given a lease of one year in a New York apartment.
Nigeria beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina was voted the first runner-up.
