Dr Obert Moses Mpofu
WE are all duty-bound to serve Zimbabwe. We exist solely to make this great nation prosper, and prosper we shall as we have set our minds to it and have the determination to achieve this prosperity.
In our journey towards this prosperity that we so desire, we should focus on our desired end goal. Let us not think for a second that we can achieve this prosperity without unity and cohesion among our rank and file.
The success that we so desire will only be attainable if we all pull together in one direction. We are at a critical juncture in our short history as a young democracy. The future is ever so bright.
We are nearly there, as we have the right formula that we need to achieve our prosperity. Nothing else should matter at this point other than the success of our nation and our people’s prosperity.
We have made remarkable progress and it is quite refreshing. It is almost as if our country has been born anew since the coming of the New Dispensation. Let all those who have eyes see what the Zanu-PF Government under President Mnangagwa has achieved.
We should take a moment to appreciate all these strides that have been taken thus far. All this has been done because of the love of Zimbabwe. There is nothing that my Party, Zanu-PF would not do for this beloved country. We would go to great strides to ensure that our nation prospers and that we have.
We have slowly been able to build and place stone upon stone, just as those who came before us did in shaping the Great Zimbabwe Monument. Great effort was placed then as now, to ensure that their civilisation, which was the seed for our beautiful nation thrives.
We have inherited their resilience, tenacity, and focus to build a thriving nation in harsh conditions. We also inherited this land and nation from them, we must thrive, leaving no one and no place behind. But amid all this progress, there are whispers, and noises that seek to derail us.
Much has been said and even more will be said in efforts to derail our focus towards petty issues that do not benefit our nation. Our people should be aware that, any conversations and discussions that are carried out should be for building this nation and not dividing our people. No one can dispute the fact that as we endeavour towards our goal, unity will play an important role in whatever effort we exert in our quest.
Our enemy still maintains their focus on derailing all our carefully conceived efforts. Disinformation and misinformation still are their preferred weapon of attack. There are malign and concerted attacks and purveying all sorts of lies about our Party, Zanu-PF. You see, some of us are in this business of politics because of the love of our country.
We loved our country so much that we made the bold decision to free it from the jaws of colonialism. We love our fellow men, as God loved us and we sought to free all of the children of Zimbabwe from colonialism, just as Moses freed the Israelites. All we have sought to do was ensure that God’s children in the land called Zimbabwe are free to choose their path and prosper in their land.
We have made concerted efforts to ensure that this goal is attained. We will also take all the necessary steps to ensure that this reality is forever maintained. Our nation will not suffer the same hardship that we endured during the colonial era. We will instead bask in a new reality laden with abundance and prosperity for every man, woman, and child of this nation.
The level of prosperity that has been ushered in by the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa is truly astounding. Never in our wildest dreams did we ever think that our nation would be where it is today.
Our progress and subsequent success have been achieved through the unity of purpose that exists within the Party’s leadership as well as our deep love for our beloved country. Zanu-PF will never abandon the people and their cause. Our people are already prospering due to our policies that have stimulated economic growth and have resulted in massive success for our nation in different economic sectors.
We are going to ensure that we build upon this success for even greater wins.
Obert Mpofu is an academic and the Secretary-General of Zanu-PF. He writes in his own capacity.
