A 30-year-old illegal forex dealer is fighting for his life at Mpilo Hospital after a brazen armed robbery in Luveve last night.
The victim was shot in the stomach and robbed of a fortune in cash—including US$5 700, BWP2 000, and R1 400—by a mystery assailant who vanished into the night.

The drama unfolded around 9:30 PM on Intemba Road after the victim disembarked from a commuter omnibus at Maplanka Shops. Sensing danger, he tried to let the suspect pass—but the thug whipped out a pistol, shot him at point-blank range, and ransacked his bag before fleeing.

Cops have issued a stern warning to the public: “Stop carrying wads of cash at night!” Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Msebele Nomalanga urged residents to bank their money instead of risking their lives.

No arrests have been made, and police are appealing for tips to track down the gunman.
“We need your help,” said Asst Insp Msebele.
