Formations’ joint congress

Herald Reporter
THE Professor Welshman Ncube-led MDC and Mr Tendai Biti’s Renewal Team propose to hold a joint congress to elect leaders once the parties agree on a framework to work together, it has emerged. The two parties – breakaways from the main MDC – signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Harare recently as part of their unity talks. The MoU was signed by MDC secretary-general Ms Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga and Mr Biti.

Ms Misihairabwi-Mushonga confirmed the development in an interview last week.
“The major outcome of the conversation is for us to go for congress. The MoU mandated our political parties to enter into conversations. The conversations have started,” said Ms Misihairabwi-Mushonga.

“One major issue that should bind us is that of equality and integrity. We should not have a big brother mentality. None of us is coming with a big brother mentality. The talks must pass the test of equality.”
