A retired footballer in Bulawayo has announced plans to focus their catering business on providing tailored diets for athletes and sports teams.
Herrod Banda, who hung up his boots after suffering a knee injury but found success as a caterer, baker and pastry chef has revealed that his company, Herro’s, will now also specialise in sports nutrition.
“I’ve always been passionate about food and its impact on performance,” Banda explained in an interview.
“During my playing days, I saw first hand the difference that a well-planned diet can make. I’m excited to bring that expertise to the wider sports community.”
Herro’s will offer customised meal plans, hydration strategies, and recovery-focused catering services designed specifically for athletes and teams. The company has already partnered with several local sports teams and gyms.
Banda emphasised the importance of whole, nutrient-dense foods and has hired a sports dietitian to ensure that his company’s offerings are backed by science.
“In professional football, every edge counts,” Banda said.
“With Herro’s, we are committed to helping athletes optimise their performance and achieve their goals.”
The move marks a new chapter for Banda, who has been open about the challenges of transitioning to life after football.
“This is a chance for me to stay involved in the sport I love while making a real difference in the lives of athletes,” he said.
Herro’s is set to become a major player in the sports nutrition industry, with plans for further expansion already in the works.
