Former Manama head master Rev Vellah-Ncube dies

FORMER Manama High School headmaster Reverend Arote Vellah-Ncube has died. He was 83.

Rev Vellah-Ncube died at his Famona home in Bulawayo on Friday and the cause of death has not been established.

His younger brother Mr Zebadiah Vella confirmed his sudden death.

“Rev Vella-Ncube passed away on 5 March 2021 at his home, we are not sure what the cause of death is but he sadly passed on,” he said.

Rev Vellah-Ncube spent 20 years heading Manama High School and retired in May of 2003. He then ventured into livestock farming and ran various retail outlets in Gwanda South and continued serving in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe.

Vellah-Ncube, who was also jailed during the liberation struggle for his involvement in national politics, is survived by his wife Judith, three daughters and seven grandchildren. Burial has been set for Saturday in Silonga, Gwanda.

Mourners are gathered at number 15 Hamilton Road in Famona, Bulawayo.-@NyembeziMu
