LORRAINE Duduzile Mlambo (24), a model from Hwange has finally earned her breakthrough on the entertainment scene as she is set to present a new television show on ZBC TV. The show Tha-rise will be is set to air on ZBC TV then on NBC and Mzansi magic by end of August. The 2011 Miss Zimbabwe finalist said she is ready for the show and is confident it will educate, entertain and inspire a lot of Zimbabweans and Africans.
“This is a dream come true, I was born ready. The show will inspire and educate Zimbabweans and Africans especially the youths, as this will be a global show,” she said.
Lorraine was the first runner up at the Miss Matabeleland North finals that same year in 2011 before competing in the Miss Zimbabwe. She did her Ordinary Level at Marist Brothers High in Dete in 2005 and Advanced Level at Eveline Girls High the following year. She has finished doing a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Sports Science at NUST and is awaiting graduation at the end of the year.
“I chose sports sciences because I loved sports from a tender age. As you can see, I have a ‘sporty’ body. I have done long jump, high jump and triple jump at school and at one time I ended up at the national triple jump events,” said Lorraine.
Fame Management agency scouted her for the show and selected her among a number of potential candidates. The company will be producing the show and aims to invade the African market with this locally produced show.
Tinashe Shumba of Fame Management said the show will be on ZBC TV for the first season and the second season will target the African audience.
“Charity begins at home, so the show will be for Zimbabweans only in the first season, but the second season going forward we will target the African continent,” he said.
The Hwange born model is a girl of many talents. Apart from modeling and TV skills, she makes her own clothes and dreams of setting up a clothing label one day. She is a humble, free, lovable person and has the needed charisma for a TV presenter.
The show aims to entertain as well as inspire youths. It will feature prominent business people among them Philip Chiyangwa and Strive Masiyiwa, as they will be interviewed by Lorraine. They will be profiled and from this, aspiring business youths and people will get information on how the business tycoons made it to the top from humble beginnings.
Lorraine said she was greatly honoured to have landed this role and she will use the platform to express her qualities. She encouraged the Zimbabwean youths to take note of such programmes.
“The government is promoting indigenisation and we are coming in trying to educate youths on how the Chiyangwas and Masiyiwas of the country have done it. With this programme we will entertain people as well as change lives,” she said.
