A former Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) student, Delvin Kajese, was recently discovered lying injured in nearby bushes after being savagely beaten by unknown assailants in Mamina village, located in the Ngezi rural area.
Kajese, whose a well known Citizens Coalition for Change supporter, was found by villagers early in the morning with visible injuries suggesting he had been severely assaulted. He was reportedly unconscious when discovered and was later taken to a local health facility for medical attention. His current condition has not yet been officially disclosed.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no arrests have been made so far. However, a fellow villager, who requested anonymity for safety reasons, claimed the incident may be linked to previous political tensions in the area.
“Delvin had clashed with some Zanu-PF supporters here before,” the villager said. “People were saying he was going around educating residents about their human rights and telling them that they have a right to protest. That didn’t sit well with certain individuals.”
Residents described Kajese as outspoken and passionate about civic education, allegations that have not been independently verified. The villager added that tensions in the community had been simmering for some time, though no formal complaints had been lodged prior to the attack.
Authorities said they are treating the matter as a case of assault and emphasized that no conclusions have yet been reached regarding the identity or motive of the attackers.
The incident has sparked fear and concern among local residents, with some calling for increased security and protection for community members amid growing political and social tensions in the area.
