Forum to hold remuneration seminar

leaders on how to match remuneration strategy to organisational goals and values.
The seminar, expected to attract various business leaders from the private and public sectors, will be held in conjunction with 21st Century Pay Solutions Group of South Africa.

During the seminar, to be held at Rainbow Towers in Harare, Mr Canaan Dube, a lawyer, business leader and corporate governance scholar, and Dr Lukas de Swardt will talk on how “remuneration governance best practices” can be practically adapted to Zimbabwe’s context.

Mr Dube, will among other issues, clarify what constitutes an acceptable standard of remuneration transparency and disclosure in Zimbabwe, from both a legal and corporate perspective.
Dr de Swardt, who worked as senior executive for Absa and Gencor, now BHP Billiton and is the past president of the South Africa Rewards Association, will share international best practices on the governance of share-based incentives.

He will also talk on how business strategy can be translated into a reward strategy and policy using proven international best prac-tices.
Dr de Swardt is expected to share practical tools on how board members and senior executives can uniquely translate their business strategy into a reward strategy that supports the business to either gain competitive advantage or deliver well on its mandate (in the case of non-profit and public sector organisations.

Dr de Swardt played a key role in formulating the practice notes on remuneration governance for the King III code.
Mr John Chikura, the chief executive of the Deposit Protection Board and the current chairman of the Swiss-based International Association of Deposit Insurers (Africa Region), will discuss how

international political and economic developments are having a bearing on the performance of chief executives and their pay levels.
It is anticipated that there would be time dedicated to questions and answers and a privilege to engage one-on-one with the speakers.
Participants would also have the opportunity to ask specific questions on such issues as employment contracts do’s and don’ts in Zimbabwe.
