Four drug dealers arrested at city truck stop

FOUR suspected drug dealers were arrested on Monday at a truck stop in Harare where police recovered 40kg of mbanje as the crackdown against drug peddling persists.

Their arrest comes after detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics in Harare received information that the suspects were dealing in drugs and moved swiftly.

The suspects are Christina Mazango (38), Chelusi Saidi (26), Priscilla Matros (32) and Joseph Mangwende (32). They were arrested at a truck stop along Simon Mazorodze Road.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said: “The suspects were found in possession of 40 kilogrammes of dagga.”

Meanwhile, police have also arrested Howard Chiweshe, Tanaka Tasara (24), Valerie Manyura (32) and Regard Gumbo (25) at the 20-kilometre peg along the Bulawayo–Harare Road in Sharona Park for unlawful possession of mbanje and Boncleer Cough Syrup.

All the suspects are still assisting police with investigations and will appear in court soon.

On May 8, 2026, police intercepted a bus and arrested Garikai Guruvaza (47) at Hwedza turn-off for illegal possession of a contraband of Astra Pain Cough Syrup.

In Bulawayo, on the same date, police also arrested Reason Mpande (41) in connection with unlawful possession and cultivation of mbanje.

Police conducted a search at the suspect’s workplace and recovered loose dagga. The suspect later led detectives to his residence, where a field of mbanje was discovered.
