FOUR men from Inyathi in Matabeleland North Province have been arrested for attempted murder.
Brighton Ndlovu (23), Michael Nyathi (23), Trymore Moyo (23) and Dennis Phiri (18) appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza, charged with three counts of attempted murder as defined in Section 47 (1) (b) as read with Section 189 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform Act) Chapter 9:23.
They all pleaded not guilty to all three counts of attempted murder.
The matter was remanded to 22 October 2024 for continuation of trial.
The court heard that on 20 February 2024 at around 1 am at Samilton Mine in Inyathi, the four accused persons came and demanded cell phones, beer and money from three complainants Yekelani Moyo, Lloyd Moyo and Mzingaye Moyo.

When they refused to comply with their demands, they assaulted them.
On the first count, they assaulted Yekelani several times with shovels, logs and stones all over the body.
The four accused persons then went on to assault Lloyd several times with an unknown object on the forehead.
It was further heard that after attacking the first and second complainants, they then assaulted Mzingaye several times with a log on the elbow and a shovel on the left hand. The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the accused persons.
