Isaya Manyowa of Musa Village under Chief Ndanga in Shurugwi was fatally assaulted by his four colleagues accusing him of having thrown away their chicken cuts.
The four accomplices Thomas Murangandi (25), Nomore Murangandi (21), Kennedy Mapurisa (18) and Obvious Chavhunduka (21) all of Musa village under Chief Ndanga appeared before Shurugwi magistrate Evia Matura charged with murder.
They were not asked to plead and were remanded in custody to November 4.
Prosecuting, Mr Pearson Muringani told the court that on 19 March the now deceased Isaya Manyowa was drinking beer with his friend, Chiedza Nhuwa, at Chimuti bar Circle a�?Va�?, Shurugwi.
The four accused persons had a misunderstanding with Manyowa after he allegedly threw the accused personsa�� chicken cuts on the ground.
They accused him of not respecting them as the rulers of the mine, and they vowed to teach him a lesson.
The accused persons started assaulting him with fists and kicked him on the head and all over the body while Manyowa lay helpless on the ground, the court heard.
Manyowa fell unconscious and was ferried to Shurugwi Police Station where he was referred to Shurugwi Hospital.
He was further transferred to Gweru Provincial Hospital where he later died due to the injuries he sustained from the assault.
