Four men arrested in Ngundu for murder of suspected thief; police hunt for more suspects

Four men have been arrested in Ngundu on allegations of fatally assaulting a suspected thief.

The victim, Shakemore Chihwe Pedzisai (33), died after being admitted to a hospital in Mwenezi.

Police have since arrested Nomore Murevegwa (33), Realise Murevegwa (18), Givemore Murevegwa (19) and Fortune Zimoto (43) in connection with a case of murder which occurred at Murevegwa Village, Chivi, on September 20, 2025.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “The suspects took turns to assault the victim, Shakemore Chihwe Pedzisai aged 33, with switches, their hands and feet after accusing him of stealing. The victim died on September 22, 2025, while admitted at a hospital in Mwenezi.”

The other suspects, Ngonidzashe Zimoto (24) and Martin Zimoto (22) are on the run. Meanwhile, police in Triangle are investigating the circumstances surrounding a case of murder in which a yet-to-be-identified man was found dead with a deformed head and a stab wound on the forehead at Field 602, Section Six.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that might assist with investigations to report at any nearest police station.
