DISGRACED Bulawayo City FC assistant coach Farai Mujuroko who is at the centre of a match fixing scandal has fled home in fear of a gang of four men who came looking for him.
Earlier this month Mujokoro and kit manager Gift Mvala were slapped with five-year bans for attempting to fix a match between Bulawayo City FC and Borders Strikers in August.
Mujokoro and Mvala together with their club had appeared before the Premier Soccer League disciplinary committee on 6 and 27 September. The two were subsequently found guilty while Bulawayo City FC was acquitted.
In the aftermath of the five-year bans, Mujokoro sensationally made damning allegations that top Zifa officials in the Southern Region League had advised him to implicate club chairman Jerry Sibanda and coach Philani a?Beefya Ncube.
Ironically, Sibanda and Ncube were later suspended from all football related matters by Zifa.
Now Mujokoro fears for his safety.
In a signed affidavit gleaned by B-Metro Sport,A Mujokoro states that he no longer feels safe after four unidentified men visited his home in Lobengula West suburb.
a?I do hereby solemnly and sincerely declare that my life is under threat after I wrote a letter to the Zifa president. I have decided to seek refuge away from home as I do not feel safe anymore. As I write (sic) four unidentified men came to my house looking for me but never identified themselves to my sister. A neighbour followed the four men and they were seen getting into a silver car that was parked along Masiyephambili Road.
a?One of the men had initially come to my house earlier claiming to be from Kadoma. The man had asked my sister where I was and he also wanted my cellphone number. My sister refused to divulge that information,a? wrote Mujokoro.
It could not be ascertained when Mujokoro wrote to Zifa president Philip Chiyangwa or the contents of the letter.
The affidavit, however, was written and signed on 18 November.
