FOUR MORE SURVIVORS PULLED FROM RUBBLE IN MYANMAR NEARLY 60 HOURS AFTER EARTHQUAKE

OFFICIALS say four people have been rescued and one body recovered from a collapsed school building in the Sagaing region.

The update from Myanmar’s fire services department says rescuers are continuing to search for more possible survivors at the site.

Meanwhile, as rescue operations in Myanmar entered third day following a catastrophic 7.7 magnitude earthquake, a terrifying video has surfaced, showing a window cleaner clinging to his safety harness while dangling from a high-rise building.

The worker, wearing a helmet and safety gear, was seen swinging violently like a pendulum as the building shook due to powerful tremors, underscoring the sheer devastation caused by the disaster.

The earthquake, which occurred on March 28, has left Myanmar and neighbouring Thailand reeling. The death toll in Myanmar has surged to 1,644, with 3,408 people injured and 139 still missing, according to official reports. In Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, at least 12 people have died, 32 have been injured, and 83 remain unaccounted for.

The widespread devastation led to the entire neighbourhoods being flattened, roads and bridges destroyed, and airports severely damaged. Homes, temples, and critical infrastructure have crumbled, leaving thousands homeless.

Mandalay and Naypyidaw, among the worst-hit cities, remain in ruins. A particularly alarming development is the collapse of a major bridge, captured in a now-viral video, showing the structure crashing into another. Many areas remain inaccessible due to blocked roads and damaged airports, making it extremely difficult for rescue teams to reach survivors.

“The first 24 hours were crucial, but now every passing minute is a fight for survival,” a UN relief coordinator said. Hospitals are overflowing, running out of medical supplies, and many injured civilians are reportedly dying on the streets due to a lack of proper medical care -Wires.
