FRANK Chirisa is set to perform at the Comedy Power sessions on Wednesday at the Bulawayo Public Library in an event that is set to empower young creatives.
Power sessions (poetry on Wednesday extremely reloaded) were started last year in February by Poet Chester and the poetry sessions are held on the last Wednesday of every month. Chirisa said the goal of the event was to create a platform for a number of local creatives to thrive.
“The goal is to get spoken word artists a platform to hone their craft and to get them exposure to new fans. The motivation was to build a platform of our own which we would expand unto others. In this week’s edition, I will be performing alongside other comedians like Mbongeni Ignash and Major and there are a number of poets that are set to perform at the event like Chester, Sage, Cebo, Bleckhit amongst many others,” he said.
He said that Power sessions continue to grow and they are looking forward to filling up theatres.
“We have seen our audience go from zero to 50 and going upwards, power sessions will go up and forward to fill up theatres. We are proud of Chester’s vision and what he’s doing for the creatives,” he said.
