Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).
The show will feature several local artistes including one of Zimbabwe’s top up-and-coming gospel musicians Sebastian Magacha.
Kirk is famed for high-powered danceable praise and worship tunes and is also a leader of a 17-member praise and worship choir called The Family.
The gospel giant’s music has been an inspiration to a new generation of performers the across globe.
His success reflects the growth and interest and participation in gospel music, the explosion of gospel choirs across Ireland, many of whom perform his work.
Since 1992 Kirk Franklin has helped bring gospel music into the mainstream, winning Nine Dove Awards, four American Music Awards in the process and recording with some of the world’s biggest artistes, including Mary J. Blige, U2’s Bono and R. Kelly.
His music has been an inspiration to the new generation of gospel performers on both sides of the Atlantic.
As a mainstream artiste, Kirk is well known outside of the gospel heartland, with hits like “Lovely Day” – his hip-hop take on the Bill Withers classic – and “You Can Lean on Me”, with Mary J. Blige, Bono and Crystal Lewis.
On the one hand, Kirk Franklin’s Concert at the HICC is a long overdue visit from one of America’s biggest contemporary hip-hop artistes. On the other hand, it’s the most talked about gospel event ever to take place in Harare, bringing together people from all walks of life, from every corner of the country.
Now on his 12th CD “Hello Fear” it is no wonder that the gospel singer will attract gospel lovers from all over Zimbabwe. HICC is Zimbabwe’s iconic venue and has already hosted some big names over the years.
The organisers of the show said tickets were going for US$20 and US$40 for the VIP Lounge.
