Free health services benefit Mutare community

Herald reporter

ZANU PF ward chairpersons in Mutare District and aspiring councillors joined hands to organise a wellness campaign for their community.

The campaign, which was facilitated by Discovery Ambulance Services, saw over 30 residents being ferried to a renowned surgeon for treatment.

Discovery Ambulances founder and CEO Mr David Munowenyu said he was moved by the unity within the organising committee.

“We were approached by community leaders in Mutare Central who had identified a number of people with health challenges. We then got in touch with our fellow doctors who were also willing to take part in the programme. We assisted a lot of people. Some needed speech therapy, while others just needed medicine.”

Mr Munowenyu said they were following President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mantra of “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo”.

One of the organisers, Ward 10 chairman Cde Timothy Kamangira said the programme displayed that unity can solve our society’s problems.

“The people of Mutare Central are grateful for this program because it has shown us that with unity we can move mountains and make a difference in our communities.”
