Frelimo launches political campaign in Bindura

Mozambique’s ruling party, Frelimo, has launched its political campaign in Zimbabwe ahead of their country’s elections slated for October 9, this year.

The campaign was launched at Tendai Hall in Bindura recently. This follows the successful voter registration of over 33 000 Mozambicans in different parts of Zimbabwe.

Frelimo’s presidential candidate is Daniel Chapo.

A high-powered delegation from Mozambique that came for the launch expressed gratitude to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zanu PF for unwavering support to Frelimo.

They congratulated Zimbabwe and President Mnangagwa on his assumption of SADC chairmanship saying it is a great honour.

Addressing hundreds of Mozambicans living in Mashonaland Central, Frelimo’s chairperson for Zimbabwe, Mr Araujo Tomas Mafupe, said the launch paved the way for several activities, including door-to-door campaigns and rallies.

Mr Mafupe said political rallies will be held each weekend starting with Rusape this Saturday and Mutare on Sunday.

Polling stations will be set up in Bulawayo, Manicaland, Masvingo, Matabeleland, Mashonaland East, West and Central.

Launching the campaign, Frelimo central committee member Dulce Gemo said the first cell of the Frelimo party was set up in Bindura 20 years ago.
