Friday sales may leave retailers in the black

JOHANNESBURG – Sales this Friday are expected to leave retailers in the black.

South Africans have a bit more disposable income in a lower inflation and interest rate environment.

Chris Wood said although consumers have been given a couple of breaks, it doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone has unlimited funds to spend.

“A big part of Black Friday is about old stock or moving stock as the new year brings new stock to the shelf,” he said.

“Irrespective of whether if it’s a nice to have or a necessity, that stock’s got to move.” eNCA
