Friends clash over piece of land

A HARARE man has accused his ex-friend of constantly threatening to kill him over a piece of land.

Oscar Bvundura applied for a peace order at the Harare Civil Court yesterday to protect him from his erstwhile friend, Mike Buwerimwe.

Oscar told the court that he paid US$100 upfront for the land and was supposed to pay off the balance of US$400 in May.

“We had agreed that I would pay the remaining amount in May, but I lost my job, so I had no other means of paying him.

“He has been threatening to kill me after I refused to give him back the land. When he was served with the papers, he texted me demanding his money. “Last week he threatened to poison my livestock,” Oscar said.

In response, Mike disputed Oscar’s accusations, saying he had never threatened to kill him or poison his livestock.

“I am only asking him to pay my money,” Mike said.

Magistrate Rutendo Machingure dismissed the application.
