In Bulawayo’s fast-growing digital content creation space, few performers have carved out a distinctive niche like Thandolwenkosi Ndlovu, popularly known as Dramatic MISS. Blending theatre with social media, she has built a strong following through skits that mirror everyday life, culture and social realities, all delivered with humour and dramatic flair.

Dramatic MISS’s love for performance began during her high school years. Although she was initially more interested in basketball, her teachers quickly noticed her dramatic talent and nudged her towards the stage. “I discovered my passion while I was at high school. My drama teacher would encourage me to be on stage either to sing or dance,” she said.

What started as encouragement soon grew into a lifelong passion for theatre. This led her to enrol at the Zimbabwe Theatre Academy, where she formally trained and graduated in 2021.

On stage, Dramatic MISS has built an impressive résumé. She has featured in several theatre productions, including playing a lead role in Ipi Ntombi, an epic South African production reimagined for local audiences. The production scooped two awards at the 2025 Bulawayo Arts Awards, including the Outstanding Theatre Production accolade. Beyond performance, she also made history as the first black Secretary of the Bulawayo Theatre Club.

With such success on stage, her move into social media skits felt like a natural evolution. She explained that her stage name reflects both her personality and artistic identity.

“The name Dramatic MISS is not just a catchy moniker to me. It represents my vibrant personality and dramatic essence. I needed a name that would resonate with who I am,” she said.

What sets Dramatic MISS apart online is her ability to connect deeply with audiences. Drawing from her theatre background, she crafts short skits that combine comedy with familiar social situations.

“I recognise the power of storytelling. There are a lot of stories to tell in the world, and I will stop creating content the day stories end. My stories are inspired by society, and I add comic relief so people can relate,” she said.

Behind the scenes, Dramatic MISS credits her husband as her biggest supporter. She says his encouragement gave her the confidence to fully embrace content creation.

“All this vibe and recognition started after my marriage. He encouraged me to share my content and believes in my talent, which motivates me,” she said.

Beyond her own career, Dramatic MISS is committed to developing young creatives through the Young Artistes Development School (YADS). Through the initiative, she mentors aspiring theatre and film artistes, sharing skills and industry experience.

“I believe in uplifting young talent. Helping others grow is part of my passion for the arts,” she said.

As digital platforms continue to reshape entertainment, Dramatic MISS hopes local content creators will one day enjoy full recognition and monetisation rights from global platforms such as Facebook.

“Content monetisation in Zimbabwe is still difficult. For now, I encourage creators to focus on endorsements and local advertising while we remain hopeful for change,” she said.

Dramatic MISS boasts 65 000 followers on Facebook and 23 000 on TikTok, cementing her place as one of Bulawayo’s standout digital performers.
