CLUB wheel-spinner, Ngodza D, reckons focus and determination have taken him places.

Born Ngonidzadze Mashoko and raised in Warren Park, Harare, the entertainer has been performing at high-profile events outside the country.

The deck wizard recently showcased his skills at the just-ended Afrofest in Canada, which is part of his global tour.

Killer T was also part of the event.

Speaking to H-Metro from his foreign base, Ngodza B said:

“It really felt amazing, especially the fact that Biggs entertainment trusted me again to open and warm up the fans for a big artist like Killer T, it was such an honour.

“I would like to say this to all upcoming DJs that practice makes perfect. After a long time of practicing, our work will become natural, skilful and swift.

“It doesn’t hurt to always try to learn a thing or two from any DJ you meet either big or small,” he said.

The 2007 Battle of DJs winner believes the AfroFest has opened more doors for him.

“I will be touring England, France and Australia in the summer of 2024 but right now I’m only focusing on my upcoming Zimbabwe Tour scheduled for December.

“During the tour, I am looking forward to giving back to my people and excited to work with the other DJs like Levels and Fantan, DJ Weed, Eddy Mighty Ducks, Garry B and Etherton B.

“As usual, we promise nothing but fireworks, electrified performances and making good memories.”

Ngodza B, who has since settled well in Canada under the management of Slicey T Entertainment, is grateful of the exposure he received.

“I have learnt a lot under Slicey T management from stage presentation to DJ skills.”

He still has fond memories of yesteryear mentors like Jah B.

Ngodza B salutes Jah B as one of the people who laid the foundation for him.

“I have never been in any DJ battles since 2007 when I defeated Lion Mix Sound in the final of the 100 sound men clash held every year at the City Sports Centre in Zimbabwe

“I would like to say rest in peace Jah Billiard who was the one to hand the trophy over to me back in 2007 and the man who introduced dancehall in Zimbabwe.”

Inspired by Garry B and other selectors of his generation, Ngodza B started from humble beginnings.

He was born in Warren Park where he did his primary education.

After graduating from primary school, he enrolled at Nyazura Mission for his secondary education.
