In an interview, the multi-talented Gara said he was working on showcasing the play at the Harare International Festival of Arts (Hifa) and other international platforms.
“I would want to take this production, From Zero to Hero, further to Hifa and other international platforms,” he said.
Gara said the collaboration with IYASA should be a lesson to local artistes.
“This should be a lesson to Bulawayo artistes that selfishness will never get us anywhere but if we come together we shall be successful,” he said.
Gara said the aim of the musical play was to expose schoolchildren to professionalism in the arts industry.
From Zero to Hero is a musical play created by Gara, a musician by profession who has worked for SOS Children’s Village for 10 years.
The musical play is about a young man Mduduzi who was dumped by her mother soon after birth.
He was picked up by an old woman who kept him until she died 10 years later.
He then grew up at an orphanage and excelled in his studies. He was later employed in a mine as a manager.
Due to his great managerial ability he was promoted to be the chief executive officer of the mine, a post which he shunned and opted for politics.
The dramatic play sees Mduduzi campaigning for presidential office, which he wins and on his inauguration day his biological mother pitches up unexpectedly.
Gara said the idea behind him authoring the play was to encourage youths to be optimistic and not let their background affect them.
“The idea is that anyone can be successful in life regardless of their background,” he said.
He said the play would be staged in Harare next month.
