From Zimbabwe with love …. Mokoomba to perform at the AFCON opening ceremony

Globetrotting all-male band Mokoomba are continuing their quest of raising the Zimbabwean flag high, as they will be part of the creatives who will perform at the official fan zone stage at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco.

The official Kick-Off concert will be held at the OLM Souissi Fan Zone in Rabat on December 20.

Apart from Mokoomba, other headlining acts include French Montana – a Moroccan-born United States-based rapper, who is expected to make a significant performance on home soil.

Multi-platinum-selling Nigerian Afro Beat sensation Davido, is also among performers, as well as Moroccan muso Dystinct.

Apart from the main official fan zone, entertainment will be held on different fan zones in other Moroccan cities like Rabat and Casablanca, where creatives like Douaa, Lahyaoui, Lartiste, Says’z, Maître Gims, Hatim, Ammor, RedOne, Aminux, Rema, Patoranking, and Benny Adam, are expected to perform.

Trust Samende who is a member of Mokoomba said they are delighted to be performing on the main stage at the official opening of AFCON.

He said for those who have never seen them performing magic on stage, it’s their time to witness the beautiful sounds and melodies of Zimbabwean music.
“We are so proud to be representing our country on an all-Africa platform. When you are given such a task, you have no option but to make your country proud because you are carrying the flag and representing the nation.
“To those who have never visited Zimbabwe, they must get ready for a glimpse of what our country is truly made of. To those who already know us, prepare for a high-energy performance and a multicultural Zimbabwean experience. Since Mokoomba represents so many different cultures from our hometown and our country, we’re bringing all of that diversity to the stage,” said Samende.

The Zimbabwe national team has been drawn into Group B They will compete against Egypt, South Africa, and Angola.
