Fuel attendant swindles employer

Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe granted her US$100 bail. Mapfumo will be back in court on April 26 for trial.
Prosecutor Mr Tungamirai Chakurira alleges that Mapfumo was a petrol attendant at Engen Filling Station along Fourth Street.

It is alleged that on November 20 last year, Mapfumo and a truck driver identified as Mupfururirwa who is still at large, were asked to deliver 15 794 litres of petrol to one of Engen Filling Stations.

The duo allegedly connived and stole 7 879 litres of petrol worth US$12 054.
Mr Chakurira alleges that in a bid to conceal the offence, Mapfumo recorded the correct and expected quantities of fuel on the delivery note to which they appended signatures to give the impression that the recorded quantity was the actual delivery.

The variance was allegedly observed through the comparison of dip stick charts which showed the actual quantities of fuel delivered.
Sometime in February this year, the management realised the company was failing to service its fuel debts which prompted them to make investigations that led to Mapfumo’s arrest, the court heard.
