POLICE in Manicaland Province have arrested two people in connection with fuel smuggling.

Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the arrest, saying detectives in Middle Sabi got a tip-off that some stolen fuel was on its way to Birchenough Bridge to be sold on the black market.

Acting on that information, the police reacted swiftly and intercepted a vehicle which was carrying 9×210 litres drums of diesel and 6×210 litres drums of petrol whose source could not be explained.

This led to the arrest of Right Mutendadzamera (28) and Richard Rushwaya (44), who are set to appear in court soon.
