Zanu-PF Chirumhanzu South National Assembly member Cde Innocent Pedzisai has urged the party’s young turks to start working towards fulfilling the promises they made to the people during the election campaigns.
In an interview on the sidelines of his victory celebrations at Holy Cross Mission over the weekend, Cde Pedzisai said the young turks should set the ball rolling by initiating projects that address issues of concern in their respective constituencies.
“As Zanu-PF young turks we have a mammoth, yet imperative task to deliver what we promised the people during the election campaigns,” he said. “There are issues of agricultural inputs that should be made available on time to the people ahead of the 2013-2014 summer cropping season.
“We would also want to avert hunger and alleviate poverty by initiating people-centred projects that would transform lives.”
Cde Pedzisai said the young turks should not abuse Parliament to enrich themselves, but should use that
opportunity to transform the lives of the people.
“Now that we have won the elections resoundingly, our number one priority is to fulfill what we promised the people. We should work towards averting hunger as well as alleviating poverty in our respective constituencies. Being an MP is not an opportunity to loot public resources,” he said.
Cde Pedzisai said he was working towards addressing acute water shortages and hunger that have characterised Chirumhanzu South since the turn of the millennium.
“We have secured funds to service and repair all boreholes in this constituency. We have already repaired 20 boreholes across the constituency. We are also repairing dam walls to enable the establishment of drip irrigation in areas that are hard hit by hunger,” he said.
