and King Shaddy are some of the artistes that are expected to grace the show at Chipadze Stadium.
According to the show’s chief organiser, Godfrey Munyuki, the show is open to all Zimbabweans.
“There is going to be pomp and fanfare from Friday night into Saturday. This is our way of encouraging people to come in their numbers and vote peacefully in the next elections.
“Women and the youths are normally left out in such occurrences but this time around, we have decided to host this festival especially for them. We hope to unite people and promote local arts and culture in the process,” he said.
Munyuki said the funfair will begin at midday on Friday with a procession of drum majorettes from local schools. The procession would then pave way for a fête at Chipadze Stadium where traditional groups and local acts would curtain-raise for the main show.
“Most of the top musicians have confirmed their participation. The guys will take turns to dish out their hit songs the whole night into Saturday where more entertainment will be in store,” he said.
Saturday will present yet another fete where helicopters and paratroop displays will mark the beginning of a sporting gala.
“Although all will be done in the name of fun, a mini sporting tournament where ball games and boxing matches will be held and winners will be awarded. We encourage people to come in their numbers. Full bar and catering is assured and there will be braziers in place to keep the cold away,” he said.
This the second time artistes from across Zimbabwe converge on Mashonaland Central after an almost similar line-up rocked the province during the 21st February Movement Gala that was held in Glendale.
