AFRO contemporary outfit, Fusion 5 Mangwiro, is simply unstoppable.

After years of releasing singles, the trio will finally unveil its debut album on October 15, titled Mixed Feelings.

It will be launched at Emagumeni, an upmarket venue in Helensvale, Harare.

Brian Maguta, a member of the Fusion 5 Mangwiro, told H-Metro they were looking forward to the event.

“Mixed Feelings is our first album, we have been recording singles and have eight singles as a group.

“We used to record as individuals and started to record as a team in 2016 but our first release was in 2018 and Katarina was our first single,” he said.

Unpacking their debut album, Maguta added:

“The album will carry a total of nine tracks, which are from different musical genres, and there are also collaborations on the album.

“Tracks are; Confirmation, Zuva, Handikwanise, The Same, Maria, Handirare, Mbwende, Your Love and Mude.

“We even had the privilege of collaborating with one Nigerian artist,” he told H-Metro.

He said a number of artists are going to be present on the day of the launch.

“There are going to be a lot of artists who are going to be adding value to our special day.

“There is going to be Feli Nandi, Nyasha David, Mwenje Mathole, Do Major, True Bantu, Taf Matiure, just to mention, but a few,” he said.

Maguta said the album sums up the group’s musical journey.

“This is an album that we want to bring to people in a bid for them to know what Fusion 5 is all about and is capable of doing.

“We decided to call the album Mixed Feelings because there are songs that portray the different scenarios in life that we have all faced.

“On top of the album title, a lot of people always ask us why we chose the name Fusion 5 Mangwiro and the reason is that we want to fuse different sounds together.

“We are three guys that met in the dust roads on Caravan, Glen View, and had different tastes when it comes to music.

“I liked dancehall, Gilbert Gwatidzo liked RnB and Aaron Manyati loved soul music.

“We decided to use that to our advantage and wanted to fuse different genres,” said Maguta.

The trio said there were no fillers on the album.

“The Fusion 5 fans should expect everything that they wanted us to deliver.

“It was not and it honestly is not an easy journey to release what your fans or family want you to record.

“We tried hard to listen to our fans and release the songs that they wanted, they should expect a mixed feeling kind of an album,” he said.
