THE Fifa Football for Hope Centre in Gwabalanda will be a hive of activity today as the Zimbabwe futsal stages another exciting round of league matches, with teams from the Division One League, Premier League and Women’s League all battling for crucial points.
The programme is expected to attract futsal enthusiasts from across Bulawayo, with the indoor version of football continuing to gather momentum through competitive fixtures and increased participation by both men’s and women’s teams.
Zimbabwe futsal official Philani Banda believes the sport is heading in the right direction and has urged supporters to come in their numbers to witness entertaining action.
“We are looking forward to another exciting weekend of futsal. The response from clubs has been encouraging and every matchday reflects the growth of the sport in Zimbabwe. We invite football lovers to come to the Fifa Hope
Centre and enjoy entertaining, high-tempo matches while supporting our players. Our objective remains to develop futsal from the grassroots and provide a competitive platform for both men and women to showcase their talent,” said Banda.
He added that the association remains committed to improving standards, promoting discipline and expanding the game to more communities as Zimbabwe continues to build a strong futsal culture.
Today’s programme gets underway at 9am with a Division One League encounter between Fox FC and TNS Rovers FC.
The focus then shifts to the women’s game as Victory Queens take on Southwonder Queens FC at 10am, before TNS Rovers Queens clash with Victory Queens FC an hour later.
Premier League action begins at 12 noon, with Southwonder FC facing Elite Institute. At 1pm, Fox FC return to the court to meet TNS Rovers FC, before Go-Boyz FC lock horns with Young Stars at 2pm.
The day’s action concludes with another women’s fixture at 3pm, when Nust Falcon square off against Street Set.
With league points at stake across all divisions and teams eager to strengthen their positions, spectators can expect a day filled with speed, skill and end-to-end entertainment.
