The two-day tournament has attracted boys and girls from five age-groups — Under-11, 13, 14, 16 and 19 — and the players were drawn from Chisipite, Hellenic, St John’s College, St George’s College, Prince Edward, Mount Pleasant, Glen View 2 High School, Snake Park, Dzivaresekwa and Kuwadzana.
Mashumba Mukumba, the tournament’s organisers, yesterday said they were having it in preparation for the Inter-Provincial tournaments to be held in South Africa in June.
“The tournament’s sponsors G-Tel # Advermark have provided us with T-shirts and various attractive prizes.
“On behalf of the patron of the board of trustees of the Zimbabwe Squash Academy I would like to thank the sponsors of our tournament for coming on board with such a big sponsorship package for squash which has never happened before.
“I am also very happy with the turn-out of the junior players at this tournament,” Mukumba said.
A total of 48 junior players are taking part in this tournament and the finals will take place at 4pm today.
