FORMER Caps United and Highlanders winger Gabriel Nyoni says the extent of his injury could have resulted in his leg being amputated.
The speedy winger suffered a broken foot when his team played against Richards Bay in a GladAfrica Championship match at Umhlathuze Sports Complex Grounds in Richards Bay a week and a half ago.
The speedster suffered severe broken foot bones resulting in wires and pins being used to balance the bones inside his foot.
Nyoni, who is on the mend, tweeted on Wednesday afternoon: “The doctor just informed me that if there was a bit of a delay in surgery, my leg could have been amputated due to compartment syndrome. Phew. I am grateful Lord.”
Nyoni recently warned fellow players against risking their careers by participating in money games, saying that could spell the end of their careers, as their clubs will not foot the medical bills.
Nyoni joined Cape Umoya in September last year from Maritzburg United, where he had signed a two-year deal with the option of a 12-month extension, but constant injury lay-offs forced them to offload. – @innocentskizoe
