Sales at Gain Cash and Carry improved during the festive season last year, credited to the wholesaler’s inaugural Zvirimubhokisi/Okusebhokisini Promotion.

The wholesaler, which currently operates 68 branches in Zimbabwe, said the promotion came as a Christmas present and the company spent over US$80 000 on prizes during the running of the promotion.

The promotion, which ran from November 13 to December 13, 2023, had two entry mechanics.

The first entry mechanic, which was for the weekly draws, only required one to spend a minimum of US$100 or equivalent in local currency at any of the Gain Cash and Carry retail outlets.

The second entry mechanic, which qualified  an individual for one of the four grand prizes, required a minimum spend of US$500 or equivalent in local currency.

Speaking on the sidelines of the handover ceremony in Harare at the Boshoff branch, Gain Cash and Carry marketing manager Carl Kusada said: “This promotion came as a Christmas present. Entry to the promotion was done electronically. There were no forms or any sort of paperwork involved and upon purchasing goods worth US$100 or equivalent, names, identification numbers and other relevant information would be captured at the tills.

“Our prizes ranged from weekly US$50 shopping vouchers in which we were awarding two-weekly shopping vouchers every week at all our branches. So we had two winners at all our 68 branches across the country for the six weeks  of the promotion which translates to 816 winners.

“For the grand draw, we had a Mazda T35 truck for the first grand prize, 4KVA solar kit for the second grand prize , 1 000 day old chicks plus full feed for the third winner and lastly US$300 cash at all our 68 branches.

“So we are talking about nearly a thousand winners and more than US$80 000 worth of prizes that we gave away under the promotion,” said Mr Kusada.

Memory Raiva from Kadoma, who won the first grand prize of a Mazda T35, said: “I am a customer at Gain Cash and Carry Kadoma CBD. I heard about this promotion because I am a regular customer at Gain Cash and Carry as I normally  buy stock feeds. I was shocked and did not expect to win the truck but it was a pleasure and I am so happy to be the winner of this promotion.

“I am also looking forward to winning in the next promotion and I will continue buying from Gain Cash and Carry to increase my chances of winning.”

Some of the winners were Tarwisa Chikutswi who won a 4KVA Solar Kit, Loyd Shito, Pfudzai Kondo, Knowledge Chisvipa, and Riggmore Mulekano among others.
